A memorial fundraiser event will be held on Jan. 30 in honor of Richard Forenza, a lifetime Salisbury resident and graduate of W.T. Clarke High School.

It will be at Mulcahy's of Wantagh from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Forenza, 40, died on Nov. 9 from injuries suffered from an early-morning accident on the Long Island Expressway during his regular truck route four days earlier. About 85 percent of his body was covered in burns. He was treated at the Nassau University Medical Center's Firefighters Burn Unit.

Forenza, a truck driver, was known by many for his sense of humor and friendly personality. He also volunteered for the Westbury Fire Department. The Herald featured Forenza in last week’s issue.

Mulcahy's is located on 3232 Railroad Ave. in Wantagh. There will be an open bar, buffet, a DJ, dancing, prize drawings and much more.

Tickets are $50 at the door. For further information or to become a sponsor, call Greg Young at (516) 244-4632 or Joe Martin at (516) 852-3670. The benefit's Web site is www.richforenzamemorialfund.com. Proceeds will benefit the Nassau University Medical Center Firefighters Burn Unit.
