Salisbury lights up for the holiday season

Posted

This year marked the Community Association of Stewart Avenue’s 30th annual holiday lighting ceremony, but it was a special evening as it also marked CASA’s first-ever joint ceremony with the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce.

Both powerhouse organizations joined forces in time for the holiday season on Dec. 9 to celebrate Salisbury’s tree and menorah lightings. Frank Camarano Jr., vice president of the chamber, said the unity came after CASA President Helen Meittinis reached out to propose a joint effort. Meittinis said she contacted the chamber in the hopes of bringing both Salisbury and East Meadow communities together during a joyous time.

As per tradition, the festivities were held at the intersection of Carman Avenue and Lake Lane. The Clarke High School Choir sang holiday songs as hot chocolate and cookies were passed around to excited children. Guests decorated the Christmas tree and Santa Claus delighted tots and adults alike with his appearance.
