Saturday is for small businesses

Support local shops this weekend

Posted

Did you know? For every year over the last decade, 60 percent to 80 percent of new jobs were generated by small businesses. Another great reason to shop small!

Make the most of the first-ever Small Business Saturday, Nov. 27, a day to come together in support of small businesses, the same businesses that enrich our communities and drive local economies.

Small businesses can get $100 of free Facebook advertising.

In support of the day, American Express is helping to drive customers to small businesses by giving registered cardmembers $25 back when they use their American Express card at small businesses on Small Business Saturday.

The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce is already hosting a Shop Local program, in conjunction with East Meadow school PTAs. When shopping or utilizing Chamber retail or service businesses, be sure to get the receipt. Bring that receipt to  your local East Meadow School District PTA, which will receive a portion of the purchase in return. For more information on the East Meadow Chamber Shop Local program, call (516) 794-3727.
