Yurman performs in 'Fortune of Fools'

Avery  Yurman, a  freshman at Connecticut College, performed in the Connecticut College Traditional Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble concert, "Fortune of Fools," Dec. 7 in Evans Hall.
   
Yurman played  the tenor saxophone in the performance, directed by Music Professor Gary Buttery. The evening's program included "Hard Hearted Hannah," "Spain," "A Mis Abuelos" and other musical selections.

   
Yurman, a  2009 graduate of  East Meadow High School, is the  daughter of  Paula and Stuart Yurman of  East Meadow.

Up close and personal

Students in the W.T. Clarke High School Science Research program and Genetics classes visited the Dolan DNA Center on Dec. 2. They had an opportunity to engage in authentic research at the renowned Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. 

Holiday recess
   
Schools will be closed for holiday recess beginning on Dec. 19. Classes are scheduled to resume on Jan. 4.

Coat drive

Woodland Middle School's National Junior Honor Society is currently sponsoring a used Coat drive to help local residents in need. Students were collecting coats at Woodland through this Friday, Dec. 18.
