Serial Nassau bank robbery suspect arrested

Police: Man struck six times, including in East Meadow

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a string of robberies that occurred in East Meadow, Lynbrook, Oceanside and Massapequa.
   
The Nassau County Robbery Squad said they arrested Michael Acciarito, 39, of Massapequa, without incident at the Nassau County Probation Office in Mineola on Aug. 6 at 3:43 p.m. Acciarito was at the office for a scheduled visit, police said. According to detectives, he was wanted for the attempted robbery at Bank of America at 300 Merrick Avenue in Lynbrook on June 22, and after further investigation, was subsequently linked to five robberies at the following locations:

     - May 27: Bank of America, 5310 Sunrise Hwy, Massapequa.
    - June 9: Wachovia Bank, 3584 Long Beach Rd, Oceanside.

    - July 3: Chase Bank, 4210 Sunrise Hwy, Massapequa.
    - July 10: Bank of America, 2443 Hempstead Tpke, East Meadow.
    - Aug. 6: Roslyn Savings, 6199 Sunrise Hwy, Massapequa.

Acciarito was charged with five counts of Robbery 3rd Degree and one count of Attempted Robbery 3rd, police said, and was arraigned on Aug. 7 in First District Court, Hempstead.
