American Sign Language teacher Robin Portnoy and her students Adam Bender, Kelly Carlin, Rebecca Davidson, Nicole DeDalto, Dennis Francis, Jessica Hart, Ashhar Kausar, Jonny Kurtz, Amanda Lev, Lindsay McKillop, Lara Nemeroff, Jackie Rachaf, Zaiba Sharieff and Allison Snyder. Portnoy’s class was invited to Citi Field, home of the Mets, to showcase their skills on the field, a special event that coincided with Mets Deaf Awareness Day. East Meadow currently has the largest ASL program in the United States.
