Partly Cloudy Sons of Italy host Night at the Races

The Sons of Italy Edward J. Speno Lodge held their biannual Night at the Races fundraiser at the East Meadow fire headquarters last Friday.
With a roll of the dice, co-chair Eugene Masula announced the amount of spaces each of six horses could move, and one by one, participants moved two-feet tall horse pawns along a designated track.
More than 50 people were in attendance and cheered on their horse of choice as the mares and stallions made their way to the finish line.
President Carmine Biscardi, Josephine Martorano and Michelle Morena also donated wine, candy and liqueurs that were raffled off.
Biscardi said, “There was a lot of work involved, but it was very successful.” The funds raised will go to local student scholarships and charity organizations.
