Rory Walsh, of Kellenberg Memorial High School, and Matthew Sheehan, of Holy Trinity High School, were presented with their ALL League Awards at the Catholic High School Football League breakfast at Kellenberg in December.

The young men grew up on opposite sides of town and have been competing against each other since elementary school.

First they faced off in the SMAA Flag Football League and later in Williamsport baseball; Sheehan played for Central Nassau Little League and Walsh played for East Meadow Little League.

They also competed in CYO with Sheehan representing St. Brigid Parish of Westbury and Walsh at St. Raphael Parish. So, it seems only fitting they are still competing and were recently recognized together for their hard work in the Catholic High School Football League.

What the young men do have in common is the progression from young boys into the gentlemen they have become today. It was their experiences on the field that taught them respect and dedication that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Despite never playing on the same team, Walsh and Sheehan have become great friends.
