On Aug. 9, the East Meadow Kiwanis Club presented seven local students with scholarships worth $4,500.

Awarded for their academic and leadership achievements, the five eldest recipients are members of the Key Clubs at East Meadow High School and W. T. Clarke High School. The two younger recipients are students at Bowling Green Elementary and are members in the K-Kids Club at school.

The following students who received awards included high school students Mary-Jo Formoso, Jonanthon Lubrano, Christina Principato, Diana Barsky and Dan Korman.

The two elementary students honored were Julianne Hallett and Devon Rafanelli. All students are involved in community service organizations sponsored by the East Meadow Kiwanis Club.

In nearly sixty years the East Meadow Kiwanis scholarship program has provided $128,000 in financial assistance to deserving youths.
