The Orchestra
The Electric Light Orchestra lives on. Take in a full evening of hit after hit of symphonic rock when former members of ELO and ELO Part II join forces as The Orchestra for some "Summer Rock." The band — featuring ELO’s Mike Kaminski, Louis Clark, Eric Troyer, with ELO II’s Parthenon Huxley, Gordon Townsend and Glen Burtnik — puts a new spin on that iconic powerhouse sound, recreating such notable hits as “Can’t Get It Out of My Head,” “Evil Woman,” “Strange Magic,” “Livin’ Thing,” and “Sweet Talkin’ Woman.” Classics from their illustrious past are liberally sprinkled with seeds of a new era as the band explodes across the stage, showering fragments of musical diversity in all directions. Singer-songwriter Al Stewart and those enduring pop-rockers Orleans also perform.

Summer Sounds

Blondie

Deborah Harry and Blondie still can still rock a crowd into a frenzy. Fans can see them in action when Harry and her bandmates make their way to Eisenhower Park for a free concert, CBS Presents Saturday in the Park. CBS-FM’s on-air personalities Scott Shannon, Dan Taylor, Bill Lee and Joe Causi will get the evening started introducing the vintage band: Harry, Chris Stein, Clem Burke, Leigh Foxx, Matt Katz-Bohen and Tommy Kessler. From there, Harry guitarist and co-writer Stein, powerhouse drummer Burke and their bandmates get in their groove. Harry and her band are undeniable pop icons, their sound and sensibility as fresh as when they first topped the charts in the late ‘70s. They’ll treat fans to all the favorites, of course, including “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me,” “Rapture,” and “Long Time,” along with tunes from their newest project, “Pollinator.”
Saturday, Aug. 19, 7:30 p.m. Bring seating. Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, located near parking fields 6 and 6A, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. (516) 572-0200.
