Broadway and rock rule the night

Music filled the air in East Meadow throughout the weekend as Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway and American Idol Kris Allen graced the stage at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre.

The events kicked off on Friday as experienced Broadway performers sung popular tunes from Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Dream Girls, Jesus Christ Super Star and many more.

Even more concertgoers came out the following evening to catch a glimpse of the season 8 winner of American Idol, Kris Allen, who rocked the night away on his guitar. The Canadian recording artist Daniel Powter, best known for the 2005 hit “Bad Day,” and Long Island native Ryan Star also took to the stage.

As sweat dripped down the performers’ faces on the humid summer Saturday, families and friends danced around the park as they enjoyed one of the last weekends before school begins.
