The annual Nassau County Veterans Day Service ceremony was held at the Veterans Memorial in Eisenhower Park last Sunday in cooperation with the United Veterans Organization of Nassau County, the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency.

The ceremony began with the Color Guard, which included members of every branch of service, and was led by the United States Marine Corps Color Guard from the 1st Marine District in Garden City. The Nassau County Police Department Pipes and Drums Band was in attendance, as well as guest speaker William A. Kraus, Acting Director of the New York State Division of Veterans Affairs.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano recognized the veterans that served during the Vietnam War Era with special certificates in appreciation of their service to the United States. Vietnam War Era veterans who were unable to attend the service are welcome to collect their certificates at the County Executives office at 1550 Franklin Avenue in Mineola.
