Winning entry to appear on new signs

Posted

The Herald, along with the East Meadow School District and the Town of Hempstead, have asked elementary schools to come up with a catchy and appropriate phrase that captures the identity of East Meadow.

The contest was coordinated by Town Councilman Gary Hudes and Town Supervisor Kate Murray.  Hudes devised the idea as part of his efforts to beautify business districts and main areas in the community.

After reviewing nearly 75 entries that were submitted in June, a committee of Herald editors has selected five finalists.

The final decision now rests with you …  the readers.

The finalists are listed below. Vote on your favorite slogan. The slogan that attains the most votes will appear on two new “Welcome to East Meadow signs. The new signs replace would the aging ones that appear on Hempstead Turnpike near the Wantagh Parkway and Front Street near Uniondale.
