Seal Cruises
Get a close-up look at Long Island’s seal population, on a seal cruise offered by the Riverhead Foundation. Sail from Freeport aboard the Captain Lou Fleet to view winter harbor seals throughout Hempstead Bay. A naturalist is on board to discuss biology and seal behavior and other marine life encountered.

Smart Move
See what some Lego enthusiasts have been up to, at Long Island Children’s Museum, as local teams gear up for the 2009-10 First Lego League competition, presented by SBPLI Long Island, “Smart Move.” Kid, ages 5-14, will be developing robotic solutions to the real world challenge of moving people, goods and services safely and efficiently. Cheer on our local teams and get a preview of the game board and preliminary solutions they’re developing before the first qualifying round.

Elusive Ladies
Examine how impressionists artists view women, with Nassau Count Museum of Art’s curator-at-large Charles A. Riley II, PhD. He presents “The Elusive Ladies of Impressionism,” an illustrated exploration of the creation of the “Modern Woman” by the great Impressionists – Degas, Monet, Renoir, Vuillard and others. The program is being offered in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition, “The Subject is Women: Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.”
