Wrong way driver charged with DWI

According to the Nassau County Police Department, a Hicksville man was arrested for a Vehicular Assault that happened last Friday at 7 a.m. in East Meadow. Homicide Squad detectives reported that Daniel Benison, 22, of 47 Woodline Drive E., who was with a 20-year-old female passenger, was traveling southbound on Newbridge Road at Falcon St. in his 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass when he crossed over into the northbound lane and collided with a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The female passenger suffered fractures to her skull, pelvis and ribs. She was transported to the hospital and admitted, along with Benison who had a shoulder injury. The police officer determined at the hospital that Benison was intoxicated and placed him under arrest.

The driver and passenger of the Honda Odyssey refused medical attention.

Benison is being charged with Second Degree Assault, Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated.
