The village appointed Frank Pignataro, 68, as the new East Rockaway Senior Center Director in September. He replaced Elaine Scheinfeld, who left the position to relocate out of state.

Pignataro previously worked for the village as Director of Recreation for over 12 years. In that time, he expanded summer and fall basketball programs, adult travel trips, movie and game nights, as well as programs for children with special needs.

He married his wife Dorothy in 1972, and has lived in the village for over 30 years. He and his wife have six sons and eight grandchildren.
Trustee Gordon Fox said that the village is thrilled to have Pignataro at the helm. “We want to grow it — that’s our message,” said, Fox. “To find out what interests them and what’ll draw them and start new programs as much as we can.”
