A ‘dream’ cast brings coat of many colors

The Lynbrook High School Stagers and Backstagers played to packed houses as they presented “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” with music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Based on the coat-of-many-colors biblical account, the storyline follows the trials, tribulations and eventual triumph of Joseph, whose brothers envy his gift for interpreting dreams and his status as their father Jacob’s favorite son. They destroy his coat of many colors, sell him into slavery, and tell their father that he is dead.

With colorful sets, lively dance numbers and a few of their own clever interpretations of the story (such as costuming Pharaoh, the King of Egypt as Elvis Presley) the cast and crew wove together a magical evening of musical theater that tells a story of love, envy, optimism, forgiveness and triumph against the odds.

Joseph and his father Jacob were played by Mike Fernez and Ben Barnett. Joseph’s brothers were played by Josh Tierney, Zach Zaramatidis, Mo Sadek, James Colin, Matt Paris, Tyler McGinness, Christopher Bilello, Griffin Kreit, Tyler Walsh, Tim Keegan and Jake Schneider. Chelsea Carver played the Narrator, telling Joseph’s story in song, with the help of the Narrator Girls, Chelsea Campanile, Christina Cuevas, Zoe Daniels and Samantha Harris. Rounding out the cast were Aidan Dunn as Pharaoh, Tim Keegan as Potiphar, Natasha Lubczenko as Potiphar’s wife, Lindsey Hochler as the Butler and Natalie Skoblow as the Baker. The Ensemble members were Ilana Ajzenman, Damaris Arroyaver, Danielle Barra, Maria Ciaccio, Nicole Galvagni, Hope Glassman, Katherine Moreno, Maggie Neal, Angela Schickling, Denise Torres and Erica Weingarten.

Making their Lynbrook High School theater debuts were Director Jill Speiser and Choreographer Melissa Matulock. They were assisted by Tom Santacapita. Joseph Pallotta once again took up his baton to direct the orchestra, Susan Sussman was the music director, and Marisa Minicus was the costume director. Art direction was supervised by Michael Kunz, with set construction by Tom Wolber. Members of the National Art Honor Society painted the sets. Samara Berry was the stage manager, Jackie Mott was the Prop Mistress, and Olivia Sanchez coordinated the costumes. In charge of lighting design, sound design, and hair and makeup were Glen Davis, Jessica Paz and Victoria Barbato.
