Dylan Gross, a junior at East Rockaway Jr/Sr High School, has been elected Lieutenant Governor to Division 7 of the New York District of Key Club International, a Kiwanis International Service Leadership Program for high school students, for the 2010-2011 academic year.

As Lieutenant Governor, Dylan will act as a liaison between the clubs in his division, which includes Baldwin, East Rockaway, Freeport, George W. Hewlett, Lawrence Woodmere Academy, Lawrence, Long Beach, Lynbrook, Malverne, Oceanside, Valley Stream South, and the district Key Club board. He will visit each club, publish a monthly divisional newsletter and contribute to a regional newsletter, as well as hold a monthly division council meeting and stay in touch with Kiwanis clubs within his division.

Dylan’s goals this service year include getting at least one more club involved at the Divisional level. He also plans on improving K-Family (College-level club) relations.

Dylan has been an active member of the East Rockaway Key Club since 2007 and has served as Co-President, President and Division Webmaster.

“We wish him a year of great success in this position,” said Principal Bill Fortgang.

Key Club International is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. It is student-led with the goal to teach leadership through serving others. The first club began in 1925 at Sacramento High School in Sacramento, California.
