Bay Park bicyclist killed on Long Beach Road
No charges filed with Oceanside driver

The Nassau County Police Department reported a fatal auto accident on Nov. 6 in Oceanside at approximately 1:30 a.m.
According to police, a witness saw Jay Brown, 48, of Bay Park, fall off of his bicycle while in the northbound center lane of Long Beach Road in Oceanside. It was then that he was hit by a 1998 white Chevrolet van being driven by an Oceanside man.
Brown suffered critical injuries and was take to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m.
The detectives report no criminality with the accident at this time. The car was impounded for a safety inspection.
