Car crashes into tree in Lynbrook

Two people were injured in this one-car accident in Lynbrook.

On September 17, the Lynbrook Fire Department Emergency Medical Company and the department’s Extrication Team responded to a reported auto accident on Scranton Avenue. 
Firefighters, under the command of Chief Michael Hynes found two injured persons in the one- car accident that hit a tree. The vehicle then glanced off a telephone pole at the curve near Freer Street. 
As both persons in the car were injured.The East Rockaway Rescue Squad responded as a mutual aid to assist. Each department transported the injured to the hospital. Both had non life threatening injuries.

The headline of this story was changed, not because of the confusion stemming from the writer's choice of the word, "career" (intransitive verb, to go at top speed especially in a headlong manner; Middle French carriere, from Old Occitan carriera street, from Medieval Latin carraria road for vehicles, from Latin carrus car (Merriam-Webster online dictionary) but because we did not know if, in fact, if the driver was going at "top speed" or went "headlong" into the tree.
