Crime Watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests
On May 29 at 12:30 p.m., a 30-year-old Jamaica man was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an auto accident at Lynbrook Police Department.
On May 30 at 11:29 p.m., a 21-year-old resident of Valley Stream was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Whitehall Street.
On May 25 at 9:25 p.m., a 23-year-old of Lynbrook, was arrested for driving while intoxicated at the intersection of Lawson Boulevard and Moore Avenue in Oceanside.
A 49-year-old  of Lynbrook, was arrested for driving while intoxicated at the intersection of Merrick Road and Saratoga Street in Oceanside on May 26 at 6:15 p.m.

On May 29 at 5 p.m.,a 31-year-old Elmont man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and no passing zone on Franklin Avenue.

Larceny
A 24-year-old Lynbrook woman was arrested for shoplifting while at Loehmann’s located at 1296 Broadway in Hewlett at 12:30 p.m. on May 24
Grand larceny
At 9:31 p.m. on May 29, a complainant reported that while his landscaping truck was parked at the BP Gas Station, at 440 Sunrise Hwy., three males broke into his vehicle. The males removed a Honda lawnmower, valued at $600, a Redmark leaf blower, valued at $400, a Honda edger, valued at $350 and a Echo string trimmer, valued at $250. The males were described as black with dark complexions, large builds and one was wearing a white shirt with blue cargo pants. The males left scene in a blue Dodge Durango that was parked in field #8.

Lost property

At 10:10 a.m. on May 26, a complainant reported that while waiting for a train to Long Beach, at the Lynbrook train station, they placed their Blackberry Curve cell phone on a platform bench. The complainant boarded their train and realized they left the phone behind. Upon returning to the train station the phone was no longer on the bench. The value of the phone is $500.

Identity theft
On April 14, a resident of 2nd Ave. in East Rockaway reported being the victim of identity theft when the IRS notified them that an unknown person(s) had filed taxes utilizing their social security number.

Forcible touching
At 2:10 p.m. on June 4, a father of a 13-year-old female reported to police that while his daughter was walking in front of 477 Merrick Rd. on May 11 at 5 p.m., an unknown male touched her on the buttocks. The male is described as white, 30-35 years of age, 6-feet-4-inches tall, about 220 pounds, medium build, short black hair, light complexion wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt. The complainant’s daughter ran home and reported the incident to her father.
