Crime Watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests
  On Aug. 29, a 23-year-old of Oceanside was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana on Fenimore Street in Lynbrook.
A 23-year-old of Hewlett was arrested and charged with third degree possession of controlled substance and third degree sale of controlled substance on Prospect Avenue in Lynbrook on Aug. 29.
On Aug. 30, a 43-year-old of Huntington was arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor, for sale of alcohol to a minor which occurred at 117 Broadway.
A 28-year-old of Brooklyn was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs, possession of marijuana, and failure to signal on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook on Sept. 1.

On Sept. 2, a 30-year-old man of Valley Stream was arrested and charged with second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop and operating a motor vehicle without a license, which occurred on Merrick Road and Horton Avenue in Lynbrook.

Criminal mischief

 On Aug. 27 between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m., an unknown person(s) damaged three slabs of the sidewalk in front of a residence located on Ocean Avenue in East Rockaway.
On Sept. 3, a complainant from Burtis Street, reported criminal mischief to his 2004 Toyota, which was parked in the driveway, when he returned to it at 5:15 p.m. to find that the rear window had been smashed. Damage to vehicle is reported at $350.

Grand larceny/criminal mischief
On Aug. 30, a complainant reported a grand larceny/criminal mischief, which occurred at Lynbrook Health & Fitness parking lot on Merrick Road, at 9:15 p.m., when their 2007 Volkswagen was broken into. The passenger side window was smashed and a pocketbook was removed that contained several credit and debit cards.

Grand larceny
On Aug. 25, it was reported that tires and rims were removed from a 2005 BMW, and headlights were removed from a 2003 BMW, with a combined value of $6,000. The incident occurred at 675 Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

Burglary
A complainant from Shower Crafters, on Sunrise Highway, reported a third degree burglary occurred between 9 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. on Aug. 29, whereby unknown person (s) broke the rear glass door with a rock, entered the store and removed a cash register valued at $120 that contained $10. Damage to the door is estimated at $450.

Criminal mischief/bias incident
On Aug. 28, Lynbrook Police observed that a Lynbrook Village garbage pail, located on Forest Avenue and Howard Place had been spray painted with graffiti depicting a penis and a swastika. The case has been referred to Nassau County Police Department 5th squad detectives as a criminal mischief/bias incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lynbrook Police Department.
