Herald Person of the Year offers thanks

Thank you very much for the incredible honor of being named the Merrick Herald’s Person of the Year.

I am so grateful for the exposure and attention that your paper has brought to the Freeport Trailer Hiring Site. The men here are truly wonderful, and it is my privilege to know them. They suffer many hardships on a daily basis, and it brings them great peace of mind to know the trailer is here to alleviate at least some of their difficulties.

Many thanks to the Hagedorn Foundation and everyone who has contributed to the trailer in the past year. We could not survive without the support of and donations from the community. Meeting so many wonderful people who are able to see beyond politics, race and color in order to help a fellow human being has been the greatest gift for me personally.

I appreciate the recognition and all the good things that will happen for the trailer because of it.
