It was a berry good day

Historical Society of East Rockaway and Lynbrook serves tea, treats to raise funds

The Historical Society of East Rockaway and Lynbrook sponsored four winter tea events. The first one was a Chocolate Valentine’s Day tea. It was followed by a Palm Beach Tea, a Gone With The Wind Tea and this year’s Very Berry Tea. The tea is a fund raiser to help offset costs of our history programs. Mary Colway, Board of Trustee member, who coordinates the tea said that the teas are held in the winter to not only raise funds but to raise “fun times in the shivery days of wintry weather.”

Many members of HSERL partake in the planning, the preparing of the various sandwiches and desserts and seeing that everything is fine tuned.  This year HSERL was fortunate to have members of the Key Club of East Rockaway High School assist them with serving of eighty guests.  The event is held in the Great Room of the Lynbrook Library and is one of the “highlights of our many activities,” commented Madeline Pearson, president of HSERL. R.A. Krendel Contracting donated $100 worth of lottery tickets for our major raffle.  It was won by Iris Zavatto of East Rockaway pictured with Veronica Krendel.
