Lynbrook always supports veterans. How were veterans supported this time?

Heavy rains didn’t dampen the enthusiasm or efforts of Lynbrook firefighters who on Sept. 23 raised over $25,000 for our wounded service men and women. This brings the total Lynbrook firefighters have donated to Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior, a 501-3C charity, over the years, to over $275,000.

The End of Summer Bash for Wounded Warriors fundraiser was scheduled to be held in Greis Veterans Memorial Park, but due to the heavy rains that weekend, the event was moved into the Tally-Ho firehouse next door to the park. Over 375 people jammed into the firehouse hall to donate and do their part to help wounded warriors and their families.

The firefighters were honored to have 12 wounded soldiers and their families from the Soldier Recovery Unit at Fort Belvoir, Virginia travel to Lynbrook for the fundraiser and to thank the firefighters for all their help.

Lynbrook firefighters will join other Nassau County firefighters in December when they travel to bring Christmas to the wounded at Fort Belvoir and other locations.

Residents who were unable to attend due to the weather and may still want to help can send a check to Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior, P.O. Box 295, Garden City, NY 11530.
