Posted

Lynbrook firefighters responded to a reported car shortly after 1 a.m. on May 11 at the Anchor dealership lot on Sunrise Highway west of Bixley Heath in Lynbrook.According to Lynbrook Fire Department, investigators have said that the fire is being considered arson.

Lynbrook police officers were first on the scene to find a working car fire.Since the new Audi convertible was parked next to the building, the original car fire response was upgraded by Chief Anthony DeCarlo to a general alarm — bringing all apparatus to the scene.

Tally-Ho arrived first and stretched to the hydrant on the corner, using one line and a back up to control the fully involved vehicle. It was out in about 15 minutes, but firefighters were on the scene for about an hour and half.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office and the Nassau County Arson Squad also responded to the scene. While viewing a tape of surveillance cameras on the building, the videos allegedly showed two male individuals attempting to break into the car one hour earlier, but they ran off when the car alarm went off. At about 1 a.m., they returned and set the car on fire.

Police are looking for the two males who

escaped in a white van.
