Lynbrook, East Rockaway ring in Easter, spring with celebrations

Even the late-March snowfall couldn’t keep residents from embracing spring fever as the villages of Lynbrook and East Rockaway recently ushered in Easter with celebrations.

East Rockaway held its egg hunt on March 24 at the Recreation Center, and it was attended by dozens of residents. The festivities included Easter Bunny cookie crafts and egg decorating.

Mayor Bruno Romano said the recent snowstorms forced village officials to improvise because the baseball fields that usually host the egg hunt were saturated with water, but noted everything went off without a hitch. He also expressed his gratitude to Recreation Coordinator Nancy Lederer and Department of Public Works Superintendent Kevin Conklin.

“We had an overwhelming turnout for our annual Easter egg hunt,” Romano said. “This is a wonderful spring event for our community.”

Lynbrook held its Easter egg hunt on March 31 at Greis Park. The event included a puppet show and bouncy houses for children, as well as a visit from Peter Rabbit, who took plenty of photos with attendees. Mayor Alan Beach was grateful for the hard work that was put into organizing it. “The Easter egg hunt had a great turnout and the weather was cooperative,” Beach said. “There were plenty of eggs for all.”
