Lynbrook Fall Sports Recognition Night

The Lynbrook Owls had much to celebrate during Varsity Fall Sports Recognition Night. The Varsity Football team clinched the Long Island Championship for the first time since 1992. MSG ranked the team as the Number One small school team in the tri-state area, and the team ranked 25th in the National Football Foundation’s final Tri-State poll. The Girls Cross Country team finished their season as Conference champs. In addition, the Boys Soccer team won the Nassau Officials Team Sportsmanship Award, while the Girls Volleyball team was the winner of the Conference I Sportsmanship award.

Scholar-Athlete teams

The Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Football, Girls Soccer, Girls Swimming, Girls Tennis, and Girls Volleyball teams were all named scholar-athlete teams.

Five coaches honored

Steve LoCicero was named Nassau County Football Coach of the Year, Dotty Amitrano earned Conference Coach of the Year for Swimming, Josh Berlin was named Conference Coach of the Year in Soccer, and Joe Beyrer earned the Conference Coach of the Year title in Girls Cross Country. In addition, Fred DeRuvo received the Nassau Coaches Association Lifetime Coaching Award in Cross Country.

Individual Awards

On the individual level, there were one All-Metro Honorable Mention, one All-Long Island, six All-County, one All-County Honorable Mention, seventeen All-Conference, five All-Division and two All-Class players named. One sportsmanship award winner and two scholar-athletes were also named.
