The Lynbrook Fire Department responded to a shed fire on Evergreen Avenue at about 1 a.m. on Aug. 14 and raced to extinguish the blaze.

Under the direction of Chief Michael Brooks, Engine Company No. 1 and firefighters from the Carpenter Avenue Firehouse arrived on the scene first and stretched a hose line to the rear of the home from the fire hydrant across the street. The shed, made of heavy plastic, was fully engulfed in flames and almost nearly melted upon their arrival.

The fire was so hot that it burned down a portion of a white plastic fence that was behind the shed and melted the siding of a neighboring garage. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

Brooks requested a routine inspection by the Fire Marshal’s office, which will determine the cause of the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
