The Lynbrook Fire Department responded to an accident between a tanker truck and a car on June 27 at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Ocean Avenue.

Under the command of Chief John Donald, the firefighters arrived at the scene at 5:50 a.m. after the tanker jackknifed and ruptured its saddle gas tanks on the side of the cab. About 20 gallons of gasoline leaked from the rupture onto the roadways.

The firefighters were assisted in mopping the spill by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office’s Hazardous Material team. Four people in the car were transported to the hospital by a Northwell Health ambulance, and no updates were provided at press time.
