A man who allegedly fired a single shot inside the Green Acres Mall Monday morning that caused two school districts to go into lockout is being sought by Nassau County police.

Police said a Black man in his early 20s fired a single round from a gun after a security guard tried to stop him from leaving the Clique clothing store without paying Monday at 11:14 a.m. The security guard and the suspect got into a physical fight, which continued into a common area of the mall where police said the shooting happened.

Police said the suspect fled the store and got into a red SUV. The mall went into lockdown as police responded. No injuries were reported.

The Lynbrook school district placed all of its buildings under lockout Monday morning, a school spokeswoman confirmed. The lockout was lifted at 12:55 p.m. Valley Stream District 30 was placed on lockout, according to school officials.

Police said the shooter is about 5-feet, 9-inches tall, thin, with black hair with blonde colored tips. He was wearing a red shirt with a white insignia, blue jeans, and a grey sweatshirt.

Anyone with information can call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-8477, or 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
