Lynbrook woman killed by car on Christmas Eve

A Lynbrook woman was killed at 6:02 p.m. on Christmas Eve while attempting to cross a four-lane road. She was struck by a car driving westbound, according to Fifth squad detectives.

Margaret Tosner, 50, was walking across Merrick Road between Rocklyn Avenue and Charles Street when she was hit by a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by an 84-year-old man, police said.

Lynbrook Fire Department Ambulance transported Tosner to South Nassau Communities Hospital where she was pronounced dead 6:33 p.m.

Police performed safety checks to the vehicle, and no charges have been filed against the driver.
