Meet Mr. April
The 2010 City of the Brave calendar is out, featuring firefighters from The New York City Fire Department.
“Mr. April” is none other than East Rockaway’s Brian Dessart, a firefighter for both NYC and the East Rockaway Fire Department, and former Herald Communications Director.
The Thomas R. Elsasser Fund, which supports the families of New York City firefighters who die while active members of the department (but not in the line of duty) will receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the calendar. The fund, established in 1991, assists the families with medical costs, housing and repairs, and school tuition.
A firefighter auction will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. during which ladies can bid on a date with each of the 12 calendar hunks, including Brian Dessart of East Rockaway. The auction will be held at Turtle Bay NYC, 987 Second Ave., New York.
