Patriots’  Weekend in Lynbrook


Lynbrook will celebrate Patriots’ Weekend starting Sunday, May 27 at Greis Park. The schedule is as follows:
3:00pm to 3:20 p.m.: Opening Ceremony at Greis Park
3:30 to 7:30 p.m.    Mayor’s Picnic

3:30 to 7:30 p.m.    Live Entertainment at the Plaza
3:30 to 7:00 p.m.: Amusement for kids,Inflatables
4:30 to 5:45 p.m. The USO Girls at the Plaza.
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Magic Show for kids at the Gazebo
6:30 to 7 p.m.: Mad Science for kids at the Gazebo
7 to 8:30 p.m. Softball Game
There will be a special Veterans’ VIP Tent  at Greis Park for all attending Veterans. The Veterans’ dinner is sponsored by Atria Tanglewood.


Fireworks:  “A Salute to Our Veterans” at 8:45 p.m.

The Lynbrook Pool will be open for all Lynbrook Village Residents between the hours of 3 to 7:30 p.m. with identification and proof of residency. Rain Date: Monday, May 28, 5 p.m.

East Rock’s Memorial Day parade
East Rockaway’s Annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 28. The parade will start at 10 a.m, beginning at the VFW hall, 164 Main Street, going east along Main Street to Ocean Avenue, then north on Ocean Avenue to Centre Avenue, continuing west on Centre Avenue to Atlantic Avenue, turning south on Atlantic Avenue to Woods Avenue past the reviewing stand in front of the East Rockaway Village Hall at 376 Atlantic Ave.. Lynbrook Memorial Day Parade
May 28, step off at 9:45 a.m. on Merrick Road and Charles Street, west on Merrick, South of Forest, then west on Stauderman and north on Atlantic Avenue through town to Merrick Road. West on Merrick again, past viewing stand, to end at the Doughboy Momument behind LIRR for ceremonies.

Following the parade and the ceremony, the VFW will host a ceremony at Greis Park, due to construction at the Merrick Road location. Events, entertainment for children, remembering the veterans, as of now, the guest of honor will be Ret. First Sgt. William Bodette, USMC.
