New Lynbrook fire department chiefs sworn in

Hynes takes reins; DeCarlo, Hynes, Anderson assist. chiefs

On April 19, Michael J. Hynes was sworn in as Chief of Lynbrook Fire Department by Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick at the annual council meeting of the Lynbrook Fire Department.

Hynes has been a deputy chief for the past three years. He is a livelong resident of Lynbrook and graduated from Lynbrook High School. He is also a graduate of Nassau Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.

Hynes joined the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department in 1984 and the regular department in 1989. He had also previously served as an officer and was captain of Engine Company 1 on Carpenter Avenue in 2000. He works for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and is engaged to be married to Julie Redmond of Lindenhurst.

Also sworn into office at the meeting were Anthony DeCarlo of Tally-Ho as First Deputy Chief; Edward Hynes of Engine Company as Second Deputy Chief; and Michael Anderson of Truck Company as Third Deputy Chief.
