A festive holiday outing turned into a romantic marriage proposal from Brian DeVita to Corinne Boening — both Lynbrook High School graduates.
According to Boening, DeVita popped the question on their annual trip to Cutchogue to cut down a Christmas tree on Dec. 21. As they were cutting down trees, DeVita got down on one knee. “I only want to cut Christmas trees down with you for the rest of my life,” he said before pulling out the ring, Boening recalled.

Boening and DeVita knew each other from Lynbrook High, where she graduated in 2006 and he graduated in 2004, but they did not start dating until they reconnected on social media in 2015.

They are planning to wed in the autumn of 2019.
