Who did the Kiwanians chose?

East Rockaway division hold dinner dance

Posted

East Rockaway Kiwanis is holding its first dinner dance in seven years — and the Club is making up for lost time by honoring two individuals and two organizations on Sunday, Apr. 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Oceanside Knights of Columbus. Tickets are $55 per person.

Club President Carmine Tufano announced that the honorees are: Debbie Hirschberg, as Person of the Year. She is the branch manager of Capital One Bank in East Rockaway and treasurer of many community organizations; Ethel Gilloon is Kiwanian of the Year. She is a distinguished past lieutenant governor of the LISW Division of Kiwanis and a two-time, two-term president of East Rockaway Kiwanis.

The two choices for Community Organizations of the Year are the American Legion Post 958, under Commander Tony Donato, and VFW Post 3350, under Commander Joe McCarthy. Both organizations honor those who served in the Armed Forces and those who are currently serving, while they exemplify community service for the entire community.

Tickets for the dinner dance can be ordered by mail with payment by check made payable to East Rockaway Kiwanis with any seating preferences or requirements, to: E.R. Kiwanis, P.O. Box 92, East Rockaway, NY 11518.

Tufano added that a Commemorative Journal is being prepared for the occasion, and that they are accepting ads. For rates, and for more information, call Carmine Tufano at (516) 250-7744.
