2 arrested for Elmont, New Hyde Park burglaries

Two juveniles were arrested on Jan. 24 for burglaries that occurred in Elmont and New Hyde Park between Sept. 14, 2011 and Dec. 13, 2011.

According the Nassau County 5th Precinct, on Sept. 14, between 8:15 a.m. and 5 p.m., a 15-year-old and 16-year-old — whose identity and residential information has not been released by police, due to their juvenile status — knocked on the door of an Elmont home on Franklin Street, and when the two decided that no one was home, they broke the victim’s side rear window and gained entry to a bedroom. The suspects then removed electronic equipment, which is valued at nearly $3,300, according to police.

On Sept. 26, between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., the two juveniles knocked on the door of a second Elmont home, on Crown Avenue, police said. When no one answered, they entered the victim’s home through an unlocked bedroom window, and removed electronic equipment that is valued at nearly $2,600, detectives said.

On Oct. 20, between 8:30-11:30 a.m., police said, the same juveniles knocked on the door of a home located on 5th Avenue in New Hyde Park and, when no one answered, entered the home through an unlocked window on the rear side of the home. The suspects then removed electronics that are valued at nearly $1,280, police said.

On Dec. 13, between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., police said, the juveniles went to a home on Fieldmore Street in Elmont, entered an unlocked window, and removed electronics and jewelry that at valued at nearly $7,620, along with cash.

According to police, the juveniles have both been charged with four counts of second-degree burglary, and are being custodialized. The police have not released any further information, including photos, due to the suspects' juvenile status.
