Stephany Guitierrez Mendoza, a 7th grader at Elmont Memorial High School, won the Nassau County Music Educator’s Association (NMEA) All-County T-Shirt design contest. The 2013 Nassau All-County Festival rehearsals and concert has t-shirts and sweatshirts featuring Mendoza’s winning design.

“I could not believe it when I saw students I did not know wearing my design,” said Mendoza. “It gave me a sense of pride in myself and my school.”

Christine Johnson, 7th grade band teacher, submitted the design to NMEA and school Principal John Capozzi presented Mendoza with a t-shirt featuring her design.
