The H. Frank Carey High School art department is pleased to congratulate junior Mario Blanco, above, on the selection of his design for the new sign at the Alva T. Stanforth Athletic Field. The Sewanhaka Central High School District hosted a contest for all Digital Design 2 students in the district, and every student enrolled in Michael Cartolano’s Digital Design 2 at Carey created their own original design. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Cheryl Champ, revealed the top three finalists, whose entries were sent to the Board of Education for final selection. The three finalists were Carey juniors Susane Abe, Mario Blanco and Emily Dunbar. As the winning entrant, Mario’s sign will be designed, manufactured and installed at the ATS Sports Complex.
