An Elmont man was arrested on March 24 after displaying a handgun to a male neighbor that he was arguing with, according to Nassau County Police Department's 5th Precinct.

According to detectives, Cedric Cornick, 22, of Crystal Street in Elmont, and his 44-year-old neighbor began arguing around 12:30 p.m. last Saturday. His neighbor and his neighbor’s 5-year-old son then left the scene, police said, and when they returned shortly thereafter, Cornick shouted to them from across Crystal Street and lifted his shirt, displaying a handgun in the waistband of his pants.

The neighbor then called police, who arrested Cornick at 12:39 p.m., at his home. According to police, when detectives arrived at Cornick’s home, they found a .36-caliber handgun and two imitation rifles.

No injuries were reported.

Cornick was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Cornick was arraigned on March 25 at First District Court in Hempstead, and was ordered held on $50,000 bond or $50,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on March 28.
