Cops: Elmont woman shot at her home

Posted

A 20-year-old Elmont woman was shot in the stomach on April 8 at 11:34 p.m., according to the Nassau County Police Department's Fifth Precinct.

According to police, the woman was in her home — located near Sussex Road — with her boyfriend, 19, when she observed 10-12 black men wearing hoodies, yelling on her front lawn. The men were looking for the owner of the vehicle parked in her driveway, which belonged to her boyfriend, detectives said. When she heard metal being smashed outside, the woman screamed out her window at the men, telling them to stop hitting the car, police added.

Police said that the men then fired five gunshots at the home, and one bullet struck the woman in the stomach.

The men then fled northbound on Sussex Road and got into three vehicles — described as a white car with a black hood, a silver car, and a blue and green car — before heading eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike, according to officers.

The woman who was shot was transported to a local hospital, where she is currently in stable condition, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
