Mostly Cloudy Driver injured in accident on Hempstead Turnpike

The Elmont Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident in the early afternoon on Dec. 29, on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont.
According to the department, the driver lost control of his vehicle and smashed into a parked utility van near Clement Avenue. The driver was transported by police ambulance to Winthrop Medical Center in Mineola.
According to the Elmont F.D., other Elmont F.D. units were fighting a small office fire next to Belmont Park’s Barn 22 that occurred during the car accident. The sprinkler system contained the fire, and damage was limited to the office area, according to the department.
