Elmont hookah lounge owner arrested

Nassau police arrested an Elmont man on Tuesday night around 7 p.m. for operating a business without a valid state liquor license.

A police investigation found that the Temptations Hookah Bar and Lounge located on Hempstead Turnpike was operating without a valid state liquor license. Officers also observed two games of chance gambling machines inside the establishment.

The Town of Hempstead Buildings Department and county fire marshal issued the owner, Alex Bonilla, 40, of Evans Avenue, Elmont, multiple summons, and the location was boarded, locked and secured.

Bonilla was charged with sale without an appropriate license, possession of a gambling device, places of public assembly, license requirements and posting, as well as general provision. He is due back in Hempstead First District Court on Nov. 30.
