Elmont man arrested for using fraudulent money in Bethpage

Three local men were arrested last week for grand larceny after allegedly using counterfeit currency in Bethpage on Dec. 6, at 3:30 a.m.

According to police, Chantel Campbell, 19, of Brooklyn; Karlmax Louis, 28, of Elmont; and Suni Seaman, 22, of Valley Stream; drove around to different stores in Nassau County and purchased low ticket price items with counterfeit $100 bills last Tuesday, and a Nassau County detective was alerted to the individuals’ actions by a local source. The detective, along with an 8th Precinct patrol officer, worked together to stop the vehicle that the men traveling in, and place the three men under arrest, police said. According to Nassau County police, detectives discovered through their investigation that the men used at least $5,000 in counterfeit bills before they were apprehended. Campbell, Louis and Seaman were charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and first-degree Scheme to Defraud. They were arraigned on Dec. 7, at First District Court in Hempstead.
