A fire broke out on the first floor of a house in Elmont Thursday morning. Elmont fire fighters responded to the call at 11:25 a.m. at 81 Biltmore Avenue and by 12:10 p.m. the blaze was under control, said Elmont Fire Commissioner Joseph Balleta. There were no injuries to the people living in the house, or any of the firefighters on the scene.

“It was a heavy fire,” Balleta remarked. As a result of the damage, seven residents were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
