HS football: Week 3

Posted

Dating back to 2011, Lawrence's offense has put up at least 50 points in five of the last six games. Bethpage, which handed the Golden Tornadoes a loss early last season, will try to keep the defending Nassau Conference III champions from lighting up the scoreboard Friday night. Kickoff is 7:15 p.m. at Bethpage.

Hewlett, which opened the season with a win at Bethpage and followed with a victory at North Shore, plays its home opener Friday at 7 p.m. versus Carle Place. Locals Carey (at New Hyde Park) and Kennedy (at MacArthur) are also in action under the Friday night lights in Conference II action.

Lynbrook, which split two road games to start the year, is always a tough matchup on the Marion Street field and plays its Homecoming game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. versus Glen Cove. Also in Conference III, South Side, the preseason No. 12 seed, will look to improve to 3-0 when Manhasset visits, while Valley Stream South entertains Floral Park.

In Conference I, Baldwin looks to rebound from a loss at Farmingdale when it travels to Hempstead on Saturday. The Dalers go to Valley Stream Central in Week 3. Defending county champion East Meadow, also off a defeat, goes to Hicksville. Oceanside, off a thrilling comeback win over the Jets, is home against Plainview at 6 p.m.

In Conference IV, West Hempstead seeks a 3-0 start and will try to get past visiting Island Trees. Clarke is home against Malverne, East Rockaway hosts Seaford, and Valley Stream North hosts Oyster Bay.

In Conference II, Long Beach comes off an impressive win over Carey and will attempt to keep its momentum going at Herricks. Elmont is home to Westbury, Mepham travels to Wantagh, and Garden City invades Calhoun."
