Posted

The first half of the Nassau County High School football season concludes this weekend and the marquee matchup in Conference I has Farmingdale visiting East Meadow on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Both teams are 2-1. The Jets are coming off back-to-back blowout victories and will send a balanced attack at the Dalers, with Steven Katz and Robert Bright coming out of the backfield and quarterback Louis Buschi serving as a double threat.

Also in Conference I, Freeport goes to Calhoun, Baldwin travels to Syosset and Oceanside is home to Plainview.

In Conference II, Kennedy will try to find a way to score against Garden City’s stifling defense. The Trojans have yet to allow a point in 2009. A playoff rematch from a year ago takes place at Long Beach Middle School when the Marines host Carey. Improved Mepham and Valley Stream Central can get to .500 with wins at New Hyde Park and Great Neck South, respectively.

Lynbrook takes a 3-0 record into face defending Conference III champion Bethpage. Kickoff is 3 p.m. The winner of Hewlett at South Side will get back to .500 after two straight losses, while host Valley Stream South or West Hempstead will reach the win column for the first time.

In Conference IV, Valley Stream North visits Cold Spring Harbor on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and East Rockaway will try to keep pace with Roosevelt on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
