Kennedy football aids Habitat for Humanity

The Kennedy High School varsity football team has spent most of the off-season in the weight room and on the track. Last Saturday, however, the team took time to build something beside strength and muscle; they built teamwork in the pursuit of a good cause.

Squad members, along with coaches Nick Martone and Jim Femminella, and biology teacher Sara Femminella, spent the day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Elmont.

The players assisted with landscaping and installing fencing. The project, organized by Kennedy’s quarterback Adrian Rose and the community service committee of Kennedy’s student government, gave the team the opportunity to work together in this important endeavor. Coincidentally, the Cougars will open their season at Elmont Memorial High School in September.
