Local artwork on display in Elmont

An exhibit entitled “Vertical” will be on display at the Elmont Memorial Library — in the library gallery — through April 27. The display includes work created by 24 students, grades 8-12, from the Sewanhaka Central High School District.

According to the district, the display illustrates the Sewanhaka district art department’s “vertical teaming” course, which works to teach students advanced problem solving skills at the beginning of their artistic experience. Each subsequent art course then expands on the knowledge and skills of the previous level.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists highlighted in this exhibit at a reception at the library scheduled for Monday, April 23, from 6-7:30 p.m.
